About

In the 2022 midterms, democracy held – pulled back from the brink by Americans of all political stripes who soundly rejected election denial and extremism.

The Task Force on Strengthening Democracy channels Americans’ desire that we invest in our election infrastructure, support the professionalism of impartial local election officials, bolster confidence in election results and take all other meaningful steps to fortify the basic building blocks of a healthy democracy.

At the same time, the Task Force continues fighting for increased access to the ballot box, fair redistricting, dark money disclosure, ethical accountability and other key measures contained in the Freedom to Vote Act and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Specifically, it works to:

  • Protect our democracy and the fundamental right to vote;
  • End the dominance of big money in our politics;
  • Fix partisan gerrymandering; and
  • Strengthen ethics laws to restore faith and integrity to our government.

Led by Co-Chairs Colin Allred, Delia Ramirez, John Sarbanes and Nikema Williams, the Task Force is working to lift up truth and create a path forward to a stronger, more unified democracy.
